ABC’s “Golden Bachelor,” who hails from Detroit, has narrowed his search for love down to three women.

Mel Owens, 66, who initially famously said he didn’t want to date someone older than him, handed retired IRS agent Cheryl, who was a fan favorite on the reality series, home last night with three roses.

Owens and the female contestants, who are all around his age, went on a group date in the latest episode, which included a spiritual getaway to Butterfly Mountian in Los Angeles.

The contestants were asked to let go of their negative emotions, and each woman spent time alone with Owens.

In the end, Owens offered roses to Cindy, Peg and Debbie, sending Cheryl and Nicolle home.

Owens, 66, 1977-1980. played quarterback at the University of Michigan, earned All-Big Ten recognition, and in 1981 He was drafted ninth overall by the Los Angeles Rams and is the Golden Bachelor this season.

The former NFL player-turned-lawyer father tutored Diana at Ross School while living in Detroit.

The younger Owens appeared on the In the Trenches podcast earlier this year and said he prefers to date women between the ages of 45 and 60. The comment sparked controversy, which he addressed in the first episode of the show.

According to his law firm, his legal practice focuses on sports injuries, workers’ compensation and disability benefits, in areas close to the former athlete’s home.
