A homicide suspect faces life in prison after a fatal shooting near Lewisville High School in 2023.
A jury convicted Afternoon Thang to life October 24 jail, according to a news release from the Denton County District Attorney’s Office. He allegedly 17-year-old Skylar Ashton Marquel Linson was shot in Lewisville in 2023. in September
First Assistant District Attorney Jamie Beck said Dallas Express that Thang was 16 at the time of the murder, but prosecutors have confirmed he will stand trial as an adult.
“It was a no-brainer,” Beck said. “THe was pretty clear to the jury that when you take a life in such a senseless, cold-blooded way, you‘you will get life.“
This murder was the result of another murder earlier that year.

Linson made rap videos, one of which referenced the shooting of Van Sui Uk.

So Thang and Linson went back and forth on Instagram for almost three months. Finally, according to Beck, Thang in 2023 lured Linson to Raising Cane’s in Lewisville on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m.
Linson attended Lewisville High School, from which he had just graduated. He brought three friends.

Defendants brought Linson to Medical City Denton, where he died Less than an hour after multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
After the shooting, Thang allegedly fled the scene. But Beck said two “good Samaritans” stepped up.
One woman called 911 with a description and license plate number of Thang’s car, and a man called 911 following the vehicle. “He calls 911 all the time,” Beck said.
When Lewisville police caught up with the suspect‘s car, he briefly tried to get away for nearly 2 minutes, Beck said.
“UFinally, he simply parks the car, gets out with his hands up and says: “The gun‘s in the front seat,” said Beck. “Sand he was caught within minutes, really, thanks to two good Samaritans.“
Finally, the Lewisville Police arrested Thang near 1800 Trinity Mills Road in Carrollton, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette. He was booked into the Denton County Jail on a charge of murder. ADAs Karen Anders and Michelle Lowery arraigned the suspect.
“Officers responded quickly after the initial shooting and located the suspect as he left the scene.
