Manila, Philippines (AP).
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin did not specify the reason to remove General Nicolas Torre as a 232,000 member of the National Police Force, which he appointed to Marcos in May and would have held it by 2027, and would be replaced by another senior police general Jose Melencio Narsez Jr.
On Tuesday, Torre’s letter Bersamin informed him of his immediate removal of the order of the national police chief Marca and ordered him to “ensure the right turnover of all matters, documents and information compared to your office.”
Torre could not comment immediately.
Before it was removed, Torre was reported to have differences with government officials on the decision of the national police chief to remove more than a dozen police officers from his duties, including Nartatez. The National Police Commission ordered the restoration of police officers to their position this month, but apparently it was not immediately done.
“He did not violate any laws, he was not accused of criminal or administratively. It is simply a president’s choice to take a new order to the National Police,” said Jonvic Remulla, Secretary of the Interior, without going to a press conference when asked why Torre was removed.
Marcos and Torre supported “amazing and productive relationships,” Remulla said, but he added that “we are laws, not human countries, that the institutions must be larger than the people who rule it.”
Only the president can answer specifically why Torre was removed, Remulla said. It is unclear whether Torre would be offered another government post.
Just a few days ago, Torre demonstrated Marcos a new fight against crime battle room at the National Police Headquarters, where officers were able to quickly communicate with a two -way radio and other communication system to respond to any problem of law and order within five minutes or less.
In March, Torre led a chaotic dimension arrest at Manila International Airport and the transfer of international criminal court detention in the Netherlands for the deadly fight against fighting. Duterte, which was 2022. Graduated from his six -year presidential term, was accused of crime against humanity for a cruel campaign against illegal drugs when he held office and left thousands of most poor suspects in the forcunition of the deceased police that are worrying in the US, other Western governments and human rights.
Duterte denied ordering the suspects’ death penalty, but publicly threatened that he suspected drug traffickers, killed before he was a longtime mayor of South Davao, and later the president.
Last year, Torre overseen the Arrest of the Philippine religious leader, Apollo QuiBoloy, the main sponsor of Durtete, who was included in the FBI’s most desired list after the arrest in its huge religious complex in South Davao.
Quiiboloy and his lawyers denied the accusations.
Since then, QuiBoloy has been locked in Metropolitan Manila Prison for three criminal cases similar to his US cases, whose Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel Romualalde said he sought his extradition.
