This is what happens in Shasta Cascade region

Geologists say that earthquakes that shake the Earth beneath the eding are something larger, deep below the Northern California region.

The culprit is also responsible for what makes the Northern state a beautiful place to live: it is volcanoes.

Redding residents occasionally feel a strong shiver from the coast of the Humboldt County, as well as strong (7.0), which struck the cities south of Eurek to the Gulf area of 2024. On December 5, but at low temperares that defame the edging – earthquakes that may feel different from their shore, stem from deep earth below the city, according to a US geology survey.

Here’s what’s going on, says scientists, and why eding earthquakes are different from the northern coast of California.

Why eding gets earthquakes

The timblers in Redding are strong enough to make people feel often, but they are normal, said Paul Caruso, a geophysicist at the USGS Earthquake Center.

This is because the tectonic plates, stacked by Shasta County, move in opposite directions west of the Shasta County. “The Gorda plate is pushed under California and Oregon”, under the North American plate, on which the editing state sits in the Northern state, Caruso said.

When the Gorda plate moves through the Earth’s crust, it melts against the mantle. That is why we have a mountain of Shasta, Lassen Peak and other volcanoes further, Carus said. That numbness makes those areas unstable, and volcanoes are formed.

Why red earthquakes may sound or feel different from the Humboldt coast

Shasta County residents often describe local earthquakes as small but loud. Some say eding tremors mimic the sound of a small explosion.

They can also describe a feeling of free fall or jerk during an edding trembling, and Eurekos can experience longer earthquakes that feel like earth.

“It depends on which side of the guilt you are,” said Caruso. Jolting tremors, as described in Redding, are “more related to traction events”, for example, when one plate pushes another up or down.

Do we know when Shasta County will get a strong enough earthquake so people can feel it?

No, but we know they are coming, said Caruso.

Shasta and Siskiyou County are part of the Shasta Cascade region, which is classified as a moderate earthquake area. This means that there are no strong enough earthquakes so people can feel them, but the area is occasionally shocked.

The Northern state is always moving. According to geologists, the Gorda plate is moving east, while the North American plate carries eding, the yrheka, Shasta Hill and everything west of Sierra Nevada to the West.

Scientists can investigate the likelihood of an earthquake by capturing the history of earthquakes on the spot, displaying fault lines and measuring Earth temperature and shifts; But they do not know when another earthquake will occur.

“We know we will have more earthquakes (in Redding), but they are not predictable,” Carus said.

Why Humboldt County becomes larger than editing

The Humboldt County has many earthquakes, as three tectonic plates are formed near the Uungo River, about 20 miles southwest of Eureka, according to Randy Reed, a professor of land science at Shasta College in Redding.

Mendocin Ridge runs along the Mendocin fracture zone more than 3,000 miles.

Mendocin Ridge runs along the Mendocin fracture zone more than 3,000 miles.

Earthquakes such as strong 2024 December The quake occurs along the mendocin fracture zone, the horizontal line that rises to the West to the Pacific, according to NOAA, and the beginning of San Andreas.

Most earthquake activities take place at a triple intersection of Mendocin near the shore – the point where Gorda, the North American and Pacific plates, said Reed. As a result, the coastline receives stronger earthquakes.

“The bigger the earthquake, the longer the tremor,” Carus said.
