Two Japanese car manufacturers are believed to be trying to create their next generation of sports cars around the current MX-5 Miata platform.
Among the current GR Corolla and Yaris hatchbacks, the next generation above, the heir to the Lexus LFA and the rumor that Toyota currently has not only Celica but also MR2, MR2.
Even the Japanese car manufacturer continued to commit to affordable GR86. Following the previous speculation that Toyota will provide the engineering of your small sports car for the next generation, the new report states that the brand can look for the development of Mazda’s partner model model.

Depending on the nominal value, the project sounds too good to be true. But there is a lot about it that makes sense from a practical perspective. After all, both brands are interested in each other and both have a comprehensive history of cooperation.
A tale of two sports cars
According to the name of a popular Japanese car magazine The best carMazda sent some of its chief engineers to Toyota City to work with the next generation MX-5 and GR86. According to the report, both cars will share the platform, much like the GR86 together with its Subaru Twin today.

The current ND-SPEC Mazda MX-5 is expected to be the basis of development, as the SMELTE 990S version advises scales with a low range of £ 2.182.5 (990 kilograms) while providing an exclusive benchmark.
Of course, while such a common engineering means that both models can be created on the same platform, they will still be different vehicles.
For example, the chassis will have to be stretched (or shortened) to apply the seats of each car. The first and second generations of the GR86 were 2+2 s, and the MX-5 was a two-seater rhodster throughout the long history.

In addition, unlike GR86 and Brz, both cars will be powered by different engines and gear. It is reported that Toyota will create its own version as a hybrid, following its proposal. Meanwhile, Mazda will allegedly follow the updated current 2.0-liter Inline-Cour version. Although it could eventually add a certain degree of electrification.
Importantly, if these reports turn out to be real and both companies actually cooperate on a joint sports car platform, hybridization may mean manual transmission loss GR86.

Sharing products make sense
In its report The best car The magazine said the next generation Toyota GR86 and Mazda MX-5 would be collected at the Mazda Hiroshima factory next to each other.
As unlikely, this idea (or even the idea that both brands are working together) may seem like a step with a settled precedent – when the Mazda Miata and the Fiat 124 Spyder shared the platform, the place created two models at a time.

In addition, Toyota worked with Subaru to develop first and second generation GR86, and seemed to BMW and Z4 for A90 SUPs, so the car manufacturer is clearly not afraid to use another name in the industry to create a better (or cheaper) sports car.
Finally, however, this is that Toyota and Mazda have been working together for a while and the report provides the most reliability. Two car manufacturers signed an agreement to join the business and capital alliance in 2017, and they recently increased their collaboration efforts to innovate car electrification.

Only time will show you what this supposed common sports car platform will be. The driver’s car, fake from two industrial titans such as Toyota and Mazda, both 2+2 and the “droptop” forms, would be a vehicle that would break online if it would ever see the light of day.
