What aircraft could replace the Navy’s T-45 Goshawk jet?

The T-45 Goshawk jet coach helped teach a generation of naval pilots since 1991, when the first version of the T-45A started. Over the years, the tandem -mounted jet has been used to perform advanced training roles, including Strike Missions and Carrier Aviation. However, the origin of the T-45 can be traced even further: Goshawk is the British Aerospace Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer created by the US Navy Boeing, a version of an aircraft that first launched a service in 1974, still flying the RAF Red Arrows. Since then, Vanagas has taught more than 25,000 pilots around the world and is often used as the most important coach of fighter pilots.

Now, Goshawko’s main coach of the US Navy Jet seems to be the main US Navy. 2025 The Navy has announced that it is hoping to sign a contract that will replace its Goshawk fleet within two years. Interestingly, for candidates, jet planes will not have to be compatible with carriers or even to participate in simulated carriers on the landing and landing paths. These requirements are no longer necessary due to improvements associated with ground modeling and advanced automatic/assistance diversion systems.

There are several candidates we know about, including Boeing-Saab T-7A Red Hawk, Lockheed Martin-Kai TF-50N, The Textron/Leonardo M-346N, Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) recently presented freedom training and Stavatti SM-31 Stiletto. This can be a profitable and long -term project, and it is expected that the Navy will order 145 nozzles. With this in mind, it is worth taking a closer look at planes that could teach the next generation of best weapons pilots.

Giants and their suggestions have been set

T -7 Red Hawk Training Jet on Earth – Boeing

Candidate aircraft include two of the US Aviation and Space Industry Giants, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. The Boeing record is the T-7A Red Hawk, a coach created in collaboration with the Swedish firm Saab.

Red Hawk USAF has already chosen its new coach. However, the program has already encountered a major delay, and the problem of displacement site means that it is not expected to start services by 2027, nevertheless the coach’s receiving USAF and its advanced development phase can give the Navy an advantage. The T-7A is powered by the GE F404 engine that can produce £ 11,000 and $ 17,000 with after Burner. It gives Red Hawk the highest speed, which flirts with supersonic and Boeing it involves it as Mach 0.975.

Another proposal for the US defense giant agreement is Lockheed Martin. In cooperation with Korea Aerospace Industries (Kai), the company has developed a TF-50 training platform that is adapted to the “Kai” version of the existing “Kai” FA-50 light aircraft. The advantage of the TF-50 program is ready to go, and more than 250 nozzles are already operating or order. The Navy version offered is the TF-50N, which will be the same GE F404 gate as Red Hawk. However, with the highest Mach 1.5 speed, the TF-50N is much faster than its competitor.

Beechcraft M -346 Workout Airplane during flight – Textron Aviation Defense

The first participant of the twin engines in the competition is the Textron/Leonardo Beechcraft M-346N. This jet airplane already has a tested record of a coach that serves more than 100 and more than 150,000 hours. Two Honeywell F124-GA-200 engines, Beechcraft’s maximum cruise speed is 679 miles per hour, so this is another subsonary contender for the Navy.

Textron is a well -known company that produces aircraft with brands such as the leading private jet manufacturer Cessna, Beechcraft and Bell. However, another company we look at is unclear. The Stavatti SM-31 Stiletto coach is probably the most unlikely participant on the list, as the company has never produced any type of plane, never contradicts a very advanced military coach. Stavatti says the jet airplane will be a one -time jet coach with the capabilities of traction vector and will be prepared by 2034, which seems to be asking for a company that has no proven origin.

Finally, we look at the SNC, an American company that offered a clean sheet aircraft for the role. It is also the only statement offering carriers’ landing practices. Freedom Trainer is designed to significantly reduce the cost of the existing coaching cycle, and the costs of the engine alone decreased by 40%. This is another twin engine with a pair of Williams FJ44-4M turophane engines supplying power. SNC says this will give a workout a performance window similar to the fourth and fifth generation.
