The man is dead after the shooting of officers on Milwaukee on the far northwest side of October 9th.
The authorities argue that the shooting was caused by a small accident between a man and a non -on -call police officer.

Who died in officers’ shooting?
The dead man was identified as Elijah Wilks.
Jeffrey Norman, chief of Milwaukee Police, said the man was 26 years old.
Family members said Wilks was on the way to a family member’s funeral on the day the disaster took place.
Who is the shooting police officer?
The name of the police officer was not released. Norman said an officer is a 40 -year -old man with over 21 years of service. According to the department’s policy, he was considered administrative duties.
Where did the incident occur?
According to the Milwaukee Medical Expert Bureau, the man died near 4805 West Mill Road at the scene.
What happened?
At a press conference, Norman said that a non -on -call police officer drove to work when he was involved in a “minor vehicle accident” with another vehicle.
When the vehicles were stopped, the driver approached a non -on -call officer and pulled a firearm. Then the man “with his firearm” began to strike a non-on-duty officer in the face, “Norman said.
Norman said that a non -on -duty officer attracted a firearm issued by his department, and both men exchanged a weapon. The police chief said he could not confirm who was shooting first.
No one else had struck a gun.
A 26-year-old man was declared dead at the scene and a police officer was taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries.

Norman said the Milwaukee Oblast Investigation Team was investigating the incident and the Western Alllis Police Department is a leading investigation agency.
The police chief said it was a “smooth and ongoing investigation”. He said there was a “very clear” video of the event, which will be released later in accordance with the Fire and Police Commission investigation procedures.
What was the firing response?
The video is widely distributed in the social media showing the consequences of shooting, depicting a man on the ground in front of a car and another man standing in holding a weapon.
When the officers responded to the shooting place, the family gathered. The tension was high, some people shouted to officials.
At a press conference, Norman asked people to be patient in the study process, taking into account the details circulating in social media.
He also talked about violence in the community.
“This is a story that happens here too often in our community. How does a minor accident change in the situation of a deadly force? Unacceptable,” Norman said. “We need to be better than that. There is no room for violence for these specific minor species or even justice disputes.”
According to police, police data by 2 September, according to police data, arguments that have grown into violence are the most common factor in the city from 2020, and about 29% of all murders related to argument or fight.

The authorities did not release specific information about the officer’s condition. However, Norman said the officer was struck by a firearm, and Alex Ayala, president of the Milwaukee Police Association, said the officer had been treated in the hospital for his face injuries.
Norman said there were “words” among the two men before they fired the weapons, but detailed information about what was said and whether the official identified himself as law enforcement or not was released.
It is unknown which person was fired first. Norman said the video would be released, but did not specify where the video came from. The officer was not in the uniform at the time of the incident, so the body camera did not carry.
