Which Franklin County Charter School received the highest and lowest ratings on state report cards?

Two of the more than 60 charter schools received five of the five stars in the Franklin County, while eight others received at least four stars on the annual reports of the Odew reports on the recent annual report cards.

Conversely, the three charter schools received the lowest one-star rating, and another four of the five stars out of five, and a DISPATH review was found.

Odew collects information from traditional public districts and charter schools and divided data into six categories: achievements, progress, early literacy, gap closure, graduation and preparation (college, career, labor, army). Jennifer Rausch, Director of the South Columbus Preparatory Academy, said in a report that the school’s four-star general school ratings-including five progress stars and gap closing-“reflect our commitment to meet students where they are and use data to help them grow”.

“When students assume responsibility for their learning, the results speak for themselves. Our value of value-cockets, achievements, teamwork and self-determination-is the basis of our school’s culture and helps to promote both academic and personal success,” said Rausch.

Aaron Churchill, head of the Ohio Education Think Tank Tank Institute, said that the commissioned schools in the city territory usually outperform traditional public schools in the progress category, which he says is very important to see if students grow over time.

He said it was important for parents to look at the Odew report cards when considering where to send their children.

“You see quality variability, whether these (traditional) districts, charters. There are many schools that pay well their students, and there are some that needs to be quite well improved,” Churchill said.
