A so Florida thing to do is to follow: a Falcon 9 rocket will fly into the sky, sending a batch of Internet satellites into orbit.
If all goes according to plan, it will be another successful Starlink mission for SpaceX — and it’s possible that people watching the rocket launch live outside will be able to see it go by. The release is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, February 21.
Rockets launch here from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Fla., or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and people in and around Brevard County usually have the best chance of seeing this phenomenon in the sky. Friends who are north of us in Volusia County or south of us on Florida’s Treasure Coast can also depending on weather, cloud cover and launch trajectory. Sometimes a rocket launch in Cape Canaveral can be seen as far south as West Palm Beach.
When there is a launch window at night or very early in the morning, there is an opportunity for unique photos – the rocket lights up the dark sky and the contrail after makes a great photo.

Live Weather Radar: Will it rain today in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral, Florida? Will weather cancel a rocket launch?
National Weather Service-Melbourne radar is shown, showing real-time conditions for the Space Coast, Brevard County, Orlando and other parts of Florida. This radar is useful if you are outside watching the launch and need real-time weather. The current date and time appear in the lower right of this built-in radar; otherwise, you may need to clear your cache.
Where to watch the SpaceX Florida rocket launch from Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne
Almost anywhere in Brevard, you’ll have a view of the rocket launch – in certain areas, you can get an amazing view of the SpaceX rocket boosters returning to the pad. The best view to watch a Space Coast rocket launch is along the beach. However, visibility will depend on weather conditions and people should ensure they do not block traffic or rights of way on bridges and follow the rules posted on the beaches.
If you’re watching the launch along the Indian River in Titusville from Space View Park or Parrish Park, look east directly across the river.
If you are further south along the Indian River, look northeast.
Playalinda Beach or Canaveral National Seashore is the closest place to see the launch as it is almost parallel to Launch Pad 39A. On the beach, look south along the coast (you can even see the pad from some places).
