The seaside heights-septyngy three people were arrested here on the Memorial Day weekend over a 72-hour period caused by fighting, disobedient crowds and three beats, encouraging the police to close May 26.
Boardwalk opened again later, after 52 adults and 21 minors’ arrests on May 23. To 6 p.m. On May 26, Detective Steve Korman, a police spokesman, said.
He said one of the arrested adults had been accused of having a firearm.
Five minutes after the last three percussion was reported during that period, Police Chief Tom Boyd closed the board trail on May 26. 12:05 p.m., “In an active point of view, to ensure public safety,” said Korman.
He said none of the fighting was fatal and none of the victims cooperated in law enforcement investigation.
Also, during a 72 -hour period, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the neighboring seaside park and a helicopter was flying to a medical facility, Korman said.
The holiday weekend brought about 100,000 visitors to the town, Korman said.
“The last few days in this city were chaos,” said Sarah Frarailey, a bartender at the tap house on the board.
“Usually not yes,” said Frailley. “Memorial Day has a lot of kids here on the weekend, more than usual in the last few years, many battles on the board.
“The children were out of control,” she said. “It’s like Jersey Shore Show.”
After a large group of disobedient teens has caused confusion on weekends on weekends as recent, city officials plan to increase the presence of police and carry out a commandant hour for minors from 10 to 5 p.m.
“It is believed that children who are minors are a commandant hour who should not be on the board after 10pm,” Frararyy said. “But I think the last two nights, Friday and Saturday, there was no way that they could be in a sense, and then they finally had enough after the last (Sunday) night and evacuated the entire board.”
Bradley D. Billhimer, a prosecutor of the Ocean District, said the police had not closed any companies on the board.
Billhimer said his office detectives were in the seaside heights all weekend to help the city police.
“Although I am disappointed with the behavior of some people who came to visit the seaside heights this weekend this weekend, the Seaside Heights Police Department and all aid agencies have done a great job this weekend to ensure the safety of most of our visitors and our locals,” Billhimer said.
The weekend was also helped by the city police for the Ocean District Sheriff Service and brick police officers, including K9 units from both agencies, Korman said.
Among the many calls the police responded were three beats.
The first happened around 8 p.m. May 24 In the Webster Avenue Ocean block, Korman said. There, officers found a 21 -year -old man suffering from a stab wound to the back, the detective said. According to him, the victim was appreciated by the Tri-Boro first aid squad, and the helicopter was flying to the Neptune Medical Center at the University of Jersey.
About 18:45 May 25 Officials responded to another beat on the Sherman Avenue and the Ocean Terrace, where they found a 22 -year -old man suffering from a stab wound to the club, Korman said. He said the victim was rated by Tri-Boro’s first aid and ambulance admission to Jersey.
On May 26, at about 12:00 pm, the police responded to Kearney’s avenue and ocean terrace to receive a third beat. There they found an 18 -year -old man with a door wound to their right thigh, Korman said. He was also evaluated by Tri-Boro’s first aid and ambulance admission to Jersey.
Five minutes later, the police chief told me to close the board, Korman said.
All three percussion victims were “non -cooperating and signed any further police assistance/investigation,” said Korman.
About 1 hour May 26 Police were called to fight Grant Avenue and Ocean Terrace. At the time of the police response, Patrol James Hans arrested 21 -year -old Byron Czaplicki of Beachwood and accused him of holding a firearm, holding a weapon for an unlawful purpose without resisting attachment and justice obstacles, Korman said.
Billhimer has promised to continue support for Seaside Heights Police Chief and Mayor Anthony E. Vas.
“We will work with the seaside highlands and all the towns of our shore to make sure we are constantly improving strategic planning for these holiday weekends,” Billhimer said. – We will not tolerate unauthorized behavior nowhere in the ocean count. “
