Senator Mike Lee of Utah would rather the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk be publicly executed than go through the legal process of finding him guilty.
The accused is Tyler Robinson, who was arrested days after Charlie was shot in the neck during an event for his nonprofit, Turning Point USA, last September.
Addressing X, Lee candidly wrote: “Execute Tyler Robinson. In public.” He had previously made a similar statement, claiming that the accused deserved to be “publicly executed” for allegedly doing the same thing to the late right-wing influencer.
“Tyler Robinson publicly executed Charlie Kirk,” Lee wrote at the time. “Tyler Robinson Should Be Publicly Executed”.
Although there is no law allowing public executions in the state of Utah, Robinson could still be executed because prosecutors have announced their intention to seek the death penalty if convicted at trial.
Social media users are blasting the senator for his call for a public execution
X users were quick to call out the politician for his remarks, with many arguing that such a statement was unbecoming of a sitting senator.
One person sarcastically remarked, “Very pro-life of you,” while another simply stated, “Due process.”
A third person said: “The number of absolute morons in the government is simply appealing.”
“Mike, you are truly a disgrace to your profession and your humanity! STFU!” another individual commented under the senator’s post.
Another person said: “You just called for the public execution of a man who has yet to have his day in court to prove his innocence. Start seeking God before it’s too late for your soul.”

Lee’s request for Robinson’s public execution comes after Charlie’s wife, Erika, asked the court to quickly try her husband’s alleged killer, per explosion.
She recently filed a motion to do so through her attorney, who noted that Utah law allows her to seek a speedy trial as a victim.
“Utah code gives victims of a crime ‘the right to a speedy resolution of charges without undue delay caused by or at the request of the defendant,'” Erika’s attorney, Jeffrey Neiman, said in the filing.
“This Court is charged with the all-important function of ensuring that the defendant has a fair trial, but this Court must also do so while balancing Ms. Kirk’s right to a speedy trial, and therefore this notice invokes Ms. Kirk’s rights under the applicable Utah Code,” the filing added.

Robinson last appeared in court on January 16, when the judge, Tony Graf, was forced to make a drastic move over the pool cameraman’s recordings of the proceedings.
“For the remainder of this hearing, the camera will not be photographing Mr. Robinson at all,” Graf said midway through the hearing, according to the report New York Post.
“That will be the sanction of this court. I will allow the pool camera operator to reposition the camera to comply with that.”
The Utah district judge made the ruling after Robinson’s attorneys raised concerns that a cameraman zoomed in on their client during the proceedings, apparently to capture private conversations.
The defense also presented earlier footage that they argued showed the cameraman violating an earlier order by Judge Graf to record during the hearings.
After considering the lawyers’ arguments and handing down his decision, Graf also warned that such close-up images of Robinson could prejudice the rest of the proceedings. However, he declined to hold the videographer in contempt or issue a fine, although he noted that doing so was within his jurisdiction.
Attorneys for alleged shooter Charlie Kirk want one of the prosecutors removed

The Jan. 16 hearing saw Robinson’s attorneys continue their efforts to remove a local prosecutor from the case for an alleged conflict of interest.
In an earlier hearing, Robinson’s attorney, Richard Novak, argued that a family member of one of the prosecutors was present at the event Charlie was killed and that keeping that prosecutor on the case could prejudice the case.
Now, as part of their argument for the motion to be granted, Robinson’s attorneys have asked that it be sent to the Utah Attorney General’s Office.
In response, Judge Graf refused and ruled that an evidentiary hearing would be held to determine whether the prosecutor should be removed.
Robinson is expected back in court on February 3 and has yet to enter a plea.
