When it comes to difficult medical situations, emergency doctors see it all. They are doctors who are in a hurry when someone is seriously mistaken. But what does “serious” mean? What pain is a visit to the emergency department? Experts say it’s hard to answer.
“Unfortunately, this can be so variable from the patient to the patient, and sometimes people who even experience slight pain can be something very serious. So [pain is] Not something he should disregard, ”said Dr. Turturro, a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh University of Pittsburgh.
Meaning, you should take the pain seriously and seek medical attention if you have any worries. It is better to say that there is nothing wrong with regret that you haven’t seen a medical specialist soon. (We know there are financial aspects that are given together – more about it below.)
Although all the pain is worth taking seriously, the Huffpost experts said there are some pains that usually cause worrying anxiety and have sufficient reason for medical care. That’s what they are:
1. Sudden pain that does not disappear
“Usually sudden and severe pain does not disappear, there is something that really should pay attention to your attention,” said Turturro. He noted that it is pain anywhere on your body.
A medical specialist will need to evaluate the pain and determine whether he is serious or not, but if you suddenly have a new pain, it is worth checking and ignoring it.
“We would like people more to be mistaken for people,” Tur also added. “If they care enough to think that something is not right and needs to be evaluated, then they should be evaluated whether it is about something serious or not.”
Suppose you are worried about the pain of a new hand that has left nowhere. Instead of cleaning it, consider seeking medical attention.

“If you care enough that it is worrying, and especially if it is a pain you have never experienced, you should definitely consider getting urgent medical care,” he added.
2. Chest pain
Chest pain often (and correctly) is associated with heart attacks, so this type of pain is important seriously.
“Chest pain is undoubtedly associated with us. If people develop that sudden appearance of chest pain, what they never felt before, or they had previously had it [and] They were told they had heart problems, they should be checked earlier than later, ”said Dr. Mark Conroy, an emergency medical doctor at the WEXner Medical Center at the Ohio State University.
Turturro said chest pain is particularly worrying in the elderly and people with heart disease risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol.
In addition to heart attacks, sharp chest pain can also mean other serious problems, such as blood clots in the lungs or in the tears of the main vessels in the chest, said the Turturro.
However, it is impossible to say exactly what chest pain can mean with one person compared to another, and this is not always serious. “Chest pain can also be associated with very benign causes such as heartburn,” Tur also added.
Because many things can occur as chest pain, you should not panic completely, but you should also reject chest pain (or, again, any pain). Instead, you should see a doctor who can determine what’s going on.

3. Balf’s pain along with the redness of the calf
According to Conroy, the pain in the lower leg, especially the calf, can cause anxiety when it is accompanied by swelling of the legs and / or redness of the lower leg.
“I always care that they may have symptoms of a blood clot or what we call DVT, deep venous thrombosis,” Conroy said.
“It would be about the pain that I really would like to see someone to be visible sooner than later, especially if they recently underwent surgery and they just lying in bed, or … they recently had a long plane,” he noted.
4. Upper back pain that feels like a tearing sensation
Back pain is a common suffering that can occur in many scenarios, such as sleeping in a bad position, improper working, sitting in a chair that does not provide support and more. Although it is always worth taking back pain, there is one specific type that Conroy said she needs medical attention.
If you have a back pain that feels like a tearing sensation through the upper back or the back of the chest, you should see a professional as soon as possible.
“With that sensation of tearing, you can cause the main large blood vessels in your body, called aorta,” said Conroy.
5. Certain pain in the lower abdomen
“The belly is one of those [pains] I think every emergency doctor is a little nervous because there are only so many things that can last, said Conroy. – So, instead of specific conditions, is it really more than symptoms? “
“If you hurt your stomach pain or what we call lateral pain … a kind of right or left lower back or lower abdomen, it may certainly be related to things like kidney stones or if you have fever, it can be a kidney infection,” he said.

It can also be appendicitis if the side pain is accompanied by nausea and vomiting, Conroy added.
If you have such a lower abdominal pain in combination with any of the problemal symptoms listed above, it is worth consulting your doctor quickly.
Bottom line: Any pain you worry about is a sufficient reason to see a doctor.
By doing your doctor, and especially the emergency medical department, you may feel in advance, you should never ignore and reject your pain.
Seeing a doctor about a worrying problem is the best step in your health, even if the pain ends with nothing – this is an ideal result.
“You may get a brief evaluation, you will get some selection laboratories or selection tests and hopefully assures you a little that the worst scenario is not what is happening,” Conroy said.
It may definitely be frustrating to hear that there is nothing wrong with paying for health care costs, especially if you pay emergency room prices, which are usually much higher than regular visits or planned visits.
If you need fast medical attention but not a medical care, you may consider visiting your emergency place, which is usually cheaper than a visit to ER. You can also call the office of your primary health care provider to find out if they have after working hours or last -minute meetings that would also be cheaper than ER’s visit. Nevertheless, certain problems need to visit the emergency department immediately and are worthy of costs for your safety. Emergency care workers or your doctor should help you determine if you need emergency care – and if you are not sure if you need much attention, it is best to apply to ER.
