Killer who hid the body of a pregnant wife for 23 years under the courtyard

The “Kel” father, who killed his wife for 23 years and hid her body under the yard, asked her son to dig and send her hair to the police bravely to clean her name.

Andrew Griggs, who has been serving a life sentence for at least 20 years, was imprisoned for three more years after he tried to manipulate one of their sons to exhumate her body from prison.

Former 62 -year -old fisherman was convicted of murdering Mrs. Griggs in 2019. After a cold case of her disappearance in 1999, after she disappeared, she was three months pregnant with her fourth child. Her body has never been found.

Despite retaining his innocence, he later visited his son in prison that her remains were sealed on the back of water buried under the concrete barn base in his home in a dorset.

He ordered him to dig, remove her hair strands, take her to abroad and declare it back to the UK with a letter pretending to be from Mrs. Griggs to prove that she was still alive.

2022 October Specialists and staff dug their home’s rear garden in St Leonards, Dorset.

Her body was found in a barrel -shaped container wrapped in blue precious, after what used to be slender. Inside, there were also clothes along with a pillow cover, blanket and trunk liner matching the mother’s Peugeot 306.

It is believed that Griggs wrapping the clothes he wore when he killed the former nurse into the trunk liner before placing them on the inside of his container.

When Griggs was questioned about the discovery, he refused to answer all the questions, but filed a pre -prepared statement in which he still claimed he was not responsible for the death of Mrs. Grigg.

He said he found his body inside the container about two years after he reported its disappearance.

He said he panicked and covered the container in the fiberglass until someone else buried him, and although he suspected he was under his garden house, he didn’t really know.

Griggs was tasked with distorting the progress of justice, which he later acknowledged and obstructed the coronary in the fulfillment of their duty.

On Monday, he was ordered to cover a prison for another three years at the hearing of the Centerbury Crown.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber said Griggs’ lie and an attempt to recruit a family member to clean his name is an “insult” in memory of the mother.

“Debbie Griggs was a dedicated mother whose love for her three children was never questioned, and it is impossible to imagine she would have ever left them,” he said.

“Her husband, Andrew, has known this since he first announced her disappearance, until that point, he had already brutally killed Debbie and hid her body. Then he continued to lies and manipulated others even after her remains were eventually discovered, making further funny stories that insulted Debbie’s memory and all

“The fact that he asked a family member to dig her remains shows how a gloomy and selfish person he is, without going deep into the fact that such an action is likely to have a deeply devastating effect on that person.

“Andrew Griggs is already serving a life sentence for the murder of Debbie, but our investigation into these other crimes has not only achieved another positive result of the court.

“It was about ensuring justice in Debbie and her family and friends and ensuring that Griggs wanted to go to the general public to avoid the consequences of his creepy actions.”

Katie Samways from the Crown Prosecutor’s Office said the case was “one of the worst imaginary examples” to distort justice.

“Andrew Griggs spent decades lying to all those around him, claiming that Debbie’s disappearance was nothing to do with him,” she added.

“When he was convicted of her murder, desperately trying to prove his innocence, he tried to manipulate his son to help him in the most apparent way.

“Griggs did not deliberately disclose Debbie’s body location, adding immeasurable to the suffering of her family and friends.”

She added: “None of us can imagine the impact of Griggs actions to all those around them.

“Now, more than 25 years after Debbie’s first disappeared, we hope that her family and friends will now be able to announce this department of her life, knowing that Andrew Griggs was completely considered to pay not only for Debbie’s murder, but also for the lies he
