The Boca Raton will start automated speed in certain school zones this fall

Boca Raton – Automatic cameras will start speed restrictions this fall in certain Boca Raton school areas, directing drivers over the announced boundaries during arrival and forgiveness hours.

The initiative will be launched in two stages during the 2025-2026 school year, starting with three schools where cameras will automatically issue $ 100 civil fines for drivers over the announced speed limit of 10 miles per hour or more. Unlike traditional traffic tickets, these quotes have no points and do not affect insurance tariffs, the city officials said.

“Safety is always our priority,” said police chief Michele Miuccio. “By slowing down drivers in school areas, we take a initiative step to protect students, pedestrians and the rest of our community.”

The program reflects the broader efforts of Florida to use technology to solve long -term concerns about speeding in places where children also go to school. This shift was allowed by the House Bill 657, the State Law adopted in 2023.

“This program strengthens our constant commitment to public security Boca Raton,” said Mayor Scott Singer. “As one parent, I understand the importance of knowing that our students are protected. These cameras are an effective, responsible solution, how to curb dangerous driving behavior in places where our children also walk to school.”

City officials said the decision to make the program was made after traffic investigations showed frequent speeding in school zones. Similar efforts of the camera in other cities have been linked to reduced speeding and higher compliance-recesses-Rezultists Boca Raton officials hope to replicate.

The exclusion will take place in two stages, starting with three schools this fall and will further increase the four more school year. Below are places and hours of execution where drivers should expect increased monitoring.
