New details have emerged about the final moments of the four University of Idaho students killed by Bryan Kohberger.

Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were stabbed a total of at least 150 times on the night of November 13, 2022.

Goncalves was stabbed at least 38 times, Mogen 28 times and Chapin 17 times. Kernodle was stabbed 67 times.

That’s according to a newly unsealed supplemental filing from prosecutors in the expert testimony file that was obtained by PEOPLE.

Goncalves and Mogen were found together in Mogen’s bedroom.

The autopsy report determined that both young women died of multiple blunt force injuries, with additional factors in Goncalves’ death including blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation.

She had at least 24 stab and incised wounds to her scalp, face and neck; 11 stab and incised chest wounds; and three stab and incised wounds to the upper extremities.

There were also puncture wounds to the outer mass of the skull, injuries to the teeth and tongue and a hemorrhage in the chest cavities, according to the filing.

Blunt force injuries sustained by Goncalves include scalp lacerations, bleeding around the brain, nasal fractures, bruising around the eyes and extensive pattern bruising on the lower face.

Mogen suffered 13 stab wounds to the face and neck of the scalp; five stab wounds to the chest; and 10 incised wounds to the upper extremities, according to the court filing.

The report states that there were also injuries to the lung and liver, perforations of the subclavian vein, artery and blood vessels of the chest wall, and an incision of the nasal septum.

Chapin and Kernodle were found in Kernodle’s room, with Ethan in bed and Kernodle on the floor.

The cause of death for the couple was also multiple blunt force injuries.

Chapin had a stab wound to the upper chest; four stab and incised wounds to the scalp of the face and neck; six incised upper extremity wounds; and six stab and incised wounds to the lower extremities.

He also had perforations of the jugular vein, subclavian vein, and subclavian artery.

The three victims were attacked while they were sleeping and never got up or had a chance to fight back, but Kernodle fought back.

She had abrasions and contusions to her head, trunk and extremities along with: 23 stab and incised wounds to her scalp face and neck; seven stab wounds to the chest; four stab wounds to the abdomen; three incised and punctured wounds to the back; 25 incised wounds of the upper extremities; and five incised wounds of the lower extremities.

There were also punctures on the outer mass of the skull; perforation of the jugular vein, heart, lungs and pulmonary blood vessels; hemorrhage in the chest cavity; wounds extending into bones of right hand; and scratches and bruises on the face, trunk and extremities.

Kernodle also had blood on the bottoms of his feet from movement during the attack.

While examining the bodies, investigators found the piece of evidence that broke the case — the KA knife sheath Kohberger probably left behind because Kernodle caught it in her roommate’s room.

That sheath would provide the DNA trace used to link Kohberger to the crime scene.

After killing his four victims, Kohberger left the house but did not go unnoticed.

The killer stared with one of his surviving roommates and the only eyewitness in the case, Dylan Mortensen.

The eyewitness and his forgotten sheath are likely why Kohberger pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder in July as part of a last-minute deal that allowed him to avoid the death penalty.

Kohberger stood in court and told the judge he was pleading guilty before confessing to killing each of the four victims.

Kohberger is now serving four life sentences for those crimes.
