Cancer oncologist integrates into his dishes
When it comes to creating your own diet for cancer prevention, Doctor Michael Dominello, do, The oncologist of the Barbara Ann Carmana Cancer Institute says it is important to think about macronutrients and trace elements. Macro -elements are necessary nutrients that require large quantities to function properly: carbohydrates, fat and protein. ‘[Micronutrients are] Energy producing elements, vitamins and compounds in our food that serve other functions, ”he explains.
Although both types of nutrients are important, it shares that one of the most intriguing trace elements is polyphenols, who prove that they play a key role in cancer prevention. Polyphenols are natural compounds, synthesized plants that have been shown to fight inflammation of the body. They are found in many foods, including vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. This makes it easy to integrate polyphenol -containing foods into each dish.

Dr Latonya Riddle-Jones, MD, MPH, Barbara Ann Karmana Cancer Center Internaturalist and Pediatric says she also tries to add leafy greens to as many dishes as possible due to high levels of polyphenol. “I have a garden and [grow] Spinach, cabbage, cabbage and various greens. I mix some of these foods into my fruit cocktails and sauces such as spaghetti sauce, ”she says, adding that it is a way to get to meals when her children don’t know.
One simple way to increase your polyphenol consumption is to integrate more spices and herbs into your dishes – the advice from the Doctor Mussallem. “Lights of turmeric, cinnamon, fresh basil, garlic, ginger or rosemary dash-no only they give a serious taste but are overloaded with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds. These tiny power plants can reduce chronic inflammation, protect your cells and even help regulate blood sugar and cholesterol.”

What to avoid eating if you want to reduce the risk of cancer
All three doctors emphasize the importance of not just what you eat when you need to use a diet to reduce the risk of cancer; What you do not eat is also important. They all say they reduce foods containing excess sugar or anything particularly processed. They also recommend reducing alcohol consumption.
“I live by philosophy that every bite is a choice to promote health or feed disease. That is why I follow all foods, only plant-based foods, especially animal protein. Just bright, nourishing true plant foods. Dr. Mussallem.
Still, dr. Mussallem says that does not mean that I eat foods rich in nutrients all the time; Food is also about pleasure! “I always say to my patients: I want to eat almost flawlessly at home. In this way you are gone and you can think that you can make thoughtful decisions without guilt or stress,” she shares.
There is such an abundance of polyphenol -containing plant foods that at least one dish is easy to include. When preparing food, you can add more plants to your plate when preparing food. This way you can reduce the risk of cancer by each bite.
