Caitlyn Jenner claims that there is simply no comparison between her fatal car accident in 2015 and the actions of OJ Simpson.
After Jenner, 74, wrote “Good Riddance” via X following Simpson’s death on Thursday, April 11, she returned to the social media platform to respond to the criticism leveled at her.
“I know you all think it’s cute to compare a fatal car accident (involving multiple vehicles) to a BRUTAL MURDER…,” Jenner wrote on Friday, April 12, “But remember…OJ said something like…I can to kill her (Nicole) and get away with it because I’m “#OJSimpson.”
Jenner was referring to the multi-car crash she was involved in in February 2015, when Jenner rear-ended a vehicle on the Pacific Expressway that ultimately resulted in the death of a woman named Kim Haw.
Simpson, of course, was acquitted of his ex-wife’s death Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman in October 1995. However, Simpson was later found liable for their deaths in a civil suit.
Jenner previously claimed that Simpson once told Brown, “I’m going to kill you and get away with it because I’m OJ Simpson,” during an appearance on the Australian Big Brother VIP in November 2021, Jenner claimed that Brown made the comment to his ex-wife Kris Jennerwith whom Brown was a close friend.
Critics pounced on Jenner’s tweet about Simpson’s death as a result of Jenner’s own actions, which had previously led to the murder of an innocent man.
“I’m sure the family of that person you ran over can’t wait to say the same about you!” one person commented on her original post. Another wrote: “Is that what you said when you killed that guy with your car?”
Prosecutors have declined to file charges in connection with the crash, although separate civil lawsuits have been filed by Howe’s stepchildren and the drivers of the other cars involved in the collision.
In December 2015, Jenner settled with a Hollywood agent Jessica Steindorff — the driver of one of the four cars involved — for an undisclosed amount that was reportedly paid by Jenner’s insurance company.
Jenner settled with Howe’s stepchildren in January 2016. Similarly, no financial details were disclosed.
Simpson died of prostate cancer at the age of 76 on Wednesday, April 10, his family announced in a statement.
“On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, passed away from his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” the Simpson family shared via X on Thursday, April 11. “During this time of transition, his family asks that you respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”
