DCT Abu Dhabi signs agreement with regional tourism organizations to promote cruise travel — TradingView News

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), a founding member of Cruise Arabia, has officially entered into an agreement with regional tourism entities to promote the growth of the cruise tourism industry in the region to promote key destinations of cruise lines and other cruise stakeholders. The agreement was signed with the Dubai Ministry of Economy and Tourism, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority and the Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism during this year’s Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB Berlin) – Europe’s leading tourism exhibition on the stand of Experience Oman.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Saleh Mohammed Al Gheziri, Director General of Tourism, DCT Abu Dhabi, H.E. Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing Corporation (DTCCM); Azzan bin Qasim bin Mohammed Al Busaidi, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman; and Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.

Under the terms of the agreement, these four destinations will collaborate to jointly attend and implement promotional initiatives at trade shows, exhibitions and other events aimed at presenting the region as a leading destination for cruise tourism.

Saleh Mohammed Al Gheziri, Director General of Tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), said: “We are collectively committed to protecting cruise tourism, reflecting our firm belief in the power of partnerships. With the emirate’s state-of-the-art ‘Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal’ and the region’s only dedicated cruise stopover beach at Sir Bani Yas Island, cruise tourism is an important pillar in our tourism strategy and an additional platform to welcome visitors to explore Abu’s many unique attractions and experiences in Dubai. With the invaluable support of our partners, we are dedicated to developing the UAE’s tourism industry while preserving Abu Dhabi’s heritage and promoting its diverse cultural heritage.”

Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal welcomed over 700,000 visitors in the 2022-23 season. Significant developments include the upgraded Sir Bani Yas Cruise Beach Pier, which has doubled passenger capacity and improved the disembarkation experience. Abu Dhabi was also recognized as the world’s best cruise destination and cruise terminal in 2023, a testament to its global standing in the cruise industry. Launched in 2015, the cruise terminal features an array of passenger amenities and the ability to accommodate up to three mega ships at a time.
