The district administration announced that the schools have been notified to inspect the buses at the designated locations, as well as to arrive on time on Saturdays and Sundays.

Explaining the campaign, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said that inspections will be conducted at Gurugram Mini Secretariat Parking, Tau Devi Lal Stadium Parking and Leisure Valley Parking to check buses in Gurugram City. School buses from Pataudi will be checked at HSVP Sector 1 in Pataudi while Sohna buses will be checked at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sohna.

“Information regarding bus inspection has been shared with all schools and if they have any doubts they can contact the district education director. Any school found not cooperating with the inspection will face strict action,” the DC said in a statement released on Friday.

Yadav said 2,600 school buses are being used by private schools in the district to transport students and they will be checked for fitness and facilities prescribed for school transport.

According to the issued instructions, the bus drivers and attendants must arrive with the relevant documents during the weekend at the places according to their schedule from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

On Thursday, the district administration and the city police inspected 45 school buses, of which 16 were protested and 11 were impounded as they did not meet the fitness standards.

Earlier in the day, Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad issued directions to the administration to inspect every school bus in their respective districts and check their fitness status within the next 10 days. Prasad held an emergency meeting after the incident at Kanina in Mohindergarh district where six students died and many others were injured due to negligence on Thursday.

“I want strict action to be taken against all persons involved in this tragic incident, regardless of their identity. Those who play with the lives of innocent children for profit must face severe consequences. Strict exemplary action should strike fear among those involved in such callous acts,” he said.

He also directed all officials to ensure the replacement of unserviceable school buses with new ones by the school management. They must also check and ensure that trained drivers are employed.
