DC’s new Batman has yet to be cast; however, some actors have become Bruce Wayne fan favorites, and one DC star’s past makes him the perfect choice.

Why Batman Isn’t Keanu Reeves’ Best DC Role

There are better DC characters for the actor

Keanu Reeves starts a fire with an artifact in Constantine.

While Reeves was great as Batman DC League of Super Pets and has the perfect voice for the role, the character wouldn’t be his best future for DC live-action. With Pattinson’s The Batman universe now takes the place of the live-action Elseworlds for the character, Reeves would be too old to play Batman in James Gunn’s DC Universe. What’s more, popular candidates for the role like Jensen Ackles, Alan Ritchson, and Jake Gyllenhaal would be better suited than Reeves for the DCU’s Bruce Wayne.

What the 3 fan-favorite DCU Batman candidates had to say about the role

The Brave and the Bold, the reboot of Batman from the DC universe, saw many actors rumored to play Bruce Wayne, and three of them became popular choices.

That doesn’t mean Reeves doesn’t have a future in DC, though. There are many characters the actor can play in the DCU. Reeves is always on the receiving end of comments about how the actor never ages, and what better meta casting than to have him play Vandal Savage from the DCU? After playing mostly heroic roles, seeing Reeves as an immortal and ruthless villain would be a great sight. Similarly, Reeves’ action talents from The Matrix and John Wick franchises would be a great fit for a character like Deathstroke in the reported Teen Titans movie.

Reeves may also play a character in the DCU. After Pierce Brosnan brought Doctor Fate to life in the DCEU Black Adam, the studio needed to find an actor who could bring the same gravitas that the James Bond star did to the role. Reeves could be that guy, with the actor able to easily bring Kent Nelson’s compassionate personality to the big screen. with Constantine 2 in development, Reeves at least has a DC role secured, and if he never gets to play Batman in live action, Keanu Reeves he can always go back to voicing Bruce Wayne in the future.

The DC Universe

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics began as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comics, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the newest iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
