Netflix has a huge lineup of movies planned for 2024, and below we’ll pick the six movies we currently have high on our most anticipated list.

If you’re a frequent visitor of What’s on Netflix, you’ll know that we maintain another “most anticipated” list for upcoming movies. In this case, we’re using data from IMDb to come up with the top 15. We’ve handpicked the movies we’re most excited about.

For a comprehensive list of all movies in development and coming soon to Netflix, we’ve got you covered, or if you’re looking for confirmed movies and shows coming in 2024, we’ve got you covered too.

Netflix has not yet finalized or released its 2024 movie list, and as a result, every movie featured below is subject to change.

We waited for what seemed like an eternity Defeatbut after reshoots and many other delays, we should finally see the Tom Hardy movie arrive in our accounts sometime in 2024.

Gareth Evans reteams with Netflix for the second time since 2018’s Apostle for this film, which he wrote and directed. Of course, Evans is perhaps best known for his role in The attack movies.

The plot of the film revolves around a detective who makes his way through the criminal underworld to rescue the son of a politician. It’s got a strong cast (Hardy stars alongside Timothy Olyphant, Forest Whitaker and Jill Winternitz, among countless others) and all the behind-the-scenes stuff we’ve seen so far has us excited.

The Russo brothers have received some attention in recent years following their entry into the 2019 Avengers storyline. The gray man is a major point of contention as it doesn’t quite live up to many expectations despite being one of Netflix’s most watched movies of all time.

In 2024, they’ll hit Netflix with an even bigger bang, and possibly one of the most expensive Netflix movies of all time in the form of an adaptation of Simon Stalenhag’s excellent novel.

Starring Millie Bobby Brown, the film follows an orphaned teenage girl who searches for her younger brother through an apocalyptic landscape with the help of a robot.

Netflix’s animated slate for 2024 looks to be just as strong as 2023 (and boy, was it strong in 2023), and leading the charge in my book is Shannon Tindall’s new film that made the overlooked and underappreciated Lost Ollie limited series.

Focusing on the beloved Japanese action hero, the stylish film looks like fun, and we can’t wait to see how fans, both new and old, will react when it comes out.

According to Netflix, here’s what you can expect from the movie:

“When baseball superstar Ken Sato returns home to Japan to take up the mantle of Earth-protecting superhero Ultraman, he quickly finds more than he bargained for as he is forced to raise the offspring of his greatest enemy.”

Eddie Murphy’s first Netflix original (Dolemite is my Name) remains one of my favorite movies the streamer has ever released. I’m thrilled to have him back in this film franchise, in which he last appeared nearly 30 years ago.

The fourth installment, headed exclusively to Netflix, will see Murphy alongside Kevin Bacon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Judge Reinhold.

Reports suggest that the film has performed well with test audiences so far, leading us to think that this could have a strong chance of reaching Netflix’s overall top 10 when it drops in 2024.

Outside Bird boxNetflix has really struggled to launch horror franchises, which is odd considering horror franchises are often what keep some studios afloat at the box office!

It’s been a while in the making, with the film wrapping up in mid-2022, but we should finally see the new horror flick in 2024.

Directed by Lee Daniels, it will follow an Indiana family who live in a seemingly haunted home and discover strange, demonic occurrences that convince them and the community that the house is a portal to hell.

A huge cast has been assembled for the film, led by Omar Epps, Glenn Close, Awanjanu Ellis Taylor, Demi Singleton, Caleb McLaughlin and Rob Morgan.

Never bet against Adam Sandler. We’ve seen it numerous times in recent years, and hopefully the trend will continue into 2024 with the (fingers crossed) Spaceman’s definite arrival, which was originally planned for 2023.

Directed by Johan Renk, the film follows a young orphan boy who grows up to become his country’s first astronaut and, while in space, comes face to face with a monster.

Sandler will star alongside Paul Dano, Carey Mulligan, Isabella Rossellini and Kunal Nayar.

We’ll expand this list in early 2024 once we get a sense of more movies on their way to Netflix. Which new Netflix original movies are you most excited to see in 2024? Let us know below.
