Second-year business fellows explored the inner workings of leading firms during a three-day visit to New York, where they gained insight into the diverse landscapes of finance and business.
A highlight of the Business Fellows trip was a networking event hosted by Jack Ryan, Chief Administrative Officer at Rockefeller Capital Management. Business fellows interacted with nearly 20 alumni from various business organizations throughout the evening.
During the visit to the city, the fellows made tours of the office, attended presentations and talked with company representatives.
“Visiting BlackRock headquarters offered me a rare glimpse into the high-stakes world of finance, enhancing my academic knowledge with real-world trading experience and invaluable networking with top industry professionals,” said Ben Sykes ’26, finance and business major assays by Lynnfield, mass
“We visited many companies, including EY, PwC, BlackRock, KPMG and Bloomberg,” said Mia Robinson ’26, an accounting major from Franklin, Massachusetts. “We also got to talk to Elon alumni about their time at each company and how their experience at Elon contributed to their success at work.”
The experience clarified postgraduate paths for many of the students and highlighted the role of the Elon network in driving their success.
“We were getting the same advice over and over again. “Drop your feet rather than fixate on the job,” said Kaydin Carroll ’26, a finance major from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. “We learned that internal mobility is popular among the companies visited.”
“I learned that you are your own CEO,” said Em Orendorff ’26, a finance major from Annapolis, Maryland. “Take care of yourself, push yourself out of your comfort zone and constantly pursue improvements.”
