This flattering swimwear trend for summer 2024 is dividing the internet

Tankinis are back on trend, and whether you love them or hate them, we’re going to talk about them. TikTok is divided over the trend, with comments like “Proud tankini hater” and “I didn’t spend hundreds of dollars on bikinis for tankinis to be a trend, sorry bye” flooding the social channels. But then others can’t stop singing their praises, with people exclaiming: “They’re so cute!” as well as “I feel like a cool mum in a tankini” and one 38-year-old woman who has had two boys and prefers something with a little more coverage, writing, “I used to rock mine every summer.”

Clearly, this is a disagreement. So what’s the deal and do you need tankinis for summer 2024? I say yes and here’s why.

For those who find bikinis too revealing but hate the look or feel of a classic, full-coverage one-piece, tankinis strike the perfect balance. Not only are they a more modest option, but they’re also incredibly flattering, with a variety of different styles including halter tops, cinched waists and plunging necklines. You can choose what suits you, with some styles offering more coverage and others less, for a sexier approach. However, with all of them you can choose the degree of exposure of the abdomen. love!

As a child of the 2000s, I’m obviously a big fan. Tankinis offer perfect tummy coverage, allowing me to feel less anxious when I’m near the water. It can also double as a shirt when you’re out and about, and given the coverage, you won’t need to use as much sunscreen to prevent a belly burn (that doesn’t mean you can avoid it completely, though!)

So if you’re looking for tankinis to see what the TikTok debate is all about, read on for some of my personal favorites. Even if you don’t like this trend, I have a feeling that once you try it, you’ll be more for it than against it.

Tommy Hilfiger Tankini Swimwear Top
