Kao has been selected as the brand of choice for health and performance stocks for the ninth time

Also recognized as an outstanding Certified Health and Performance Management Organization in the Large Enterprise category (White 500) for the eighth year in a row

Kao Corporation was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) as a Health & Productivity Stock Selection 2024 brand among listed companies in recognition of its outstanding health and productivity management. Kao was also recognized by METI for the eighth consecutive year as a Certified Outstanding Health and Performance Management Organization (White 500) for its outstanding practice in health and performance management.

The Health & Productivity Stock Selection marks are those in which registered companies focus on and strategically make efforts regarding the health of their employees and other workers from a management perspective, selected from among those with outstanding achievements in this field and recognized jointly by METI and TSE under Health and Productivity Stock Selection. The program started in 2015, and Kao was chosen for the ninth time.

Kao was also recognized as a Certified Outstanding Health and Performance Management Organization in the Large Enterprise category (White 500). This joint METI and Nippon Kenko Kaigi program, launched in 2017, recognizes businesses that, working together with health insurance companies, implement outstanding health management.

The activities of the Kao group

To improve health and performance management across the group, Kao provides equal opportunities for its employees and their families to receive health support under medium-term five-year health plans to ensure a systematic approach to health and performance management. Health administration staff and persons responsible for health administration are assigned to each business location and branch and coordinate their work with the industrial health staff. Kao’s health promotion management system, effective since fiscal year 2009, collects anonymous statistical health data (for medical interviews, health examinations, occupations, diseases, etc.). This data is also provided to 21 health advisory centers throughout Japan to help prepare and implement plans based on the actual conditions and problems in each area.

Based on the changes in work styles and lifestyles today, Kao is helping to create a “new normal” of using a hybrid of in-person and online services. Kao also offers activities customized for individuals and uses the online community to accelerate efforts to connect people in far-flung places and increase mutual well-being through its proprietary health platform GENKI-WEB.

In addition, Kao’s healthcare solutions program, the Kao GENKI for Everyone project, brings together in-house healthcare knowledge and visualization technology. The project also offers partial services outside the company and is used to improve the health of local communities and other companies.
