LABI Appoints Officers, Honors for Baton Rouge Contractors | Business news

Four Baton Rouge companies have made the sixth annual Associated Builders and Contractors Top Contractors publication, which lists contractor members who build the nation’s most durable, innovative and high-quality construction projects.

Turner Industries Group of Baton Rouge was ranked as the top performer for 2024 by hours. Brown & Root Industrial Services of Baton Rouge ranked fourth, while Executors of performance of Baton Rouge was fifth.

Turner Industries was named the 2024 Prime Contractor of the Year and the top performing contractor in the industrial market sector. MMR Constructors of Baton Rouge was ranked the top trade contractor and the top electrical contractor.

Jacqueline Stevens, from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, was recently elected vice chair of the board of The Obesity Society.

Stevens is the Claude B. Pennington Jr. Chair in Biomedical Research at Pennington. Along with her research lab, she is a professor of biological sciences and teaches a course in endocrinology at LSU.

She received her doctorate in biochemistry from East Carolina University School of Medicine.

The Women’s Foundation Board of Trustees elected officers for 2024-25.

Selton Hayden Jr, CEO of CC’s Coffee House, will serve as chairman. Hayden has served on the board of the Woman’s Hospital Foundation since 2015.

The other officers are Tom Yuraelected chairman; Sarah Grace BrooksSecretary; Adam Foy, cashier; and Kathy Gearingpast chair

Members of the management board of the foundation are: Chris Cielski, John P. Everett, Patricia Felder, Rose Marie Fife, Dr. Greg Gelpi, Ruthie Golden, Kimberly Lewis, Gabriela St. Amant, Erin Monroe Wesley, Rene Ragas and Kayla Stovall.

Andrew J. Maasassociate vice president for research overseeing LSU’s Office of Innovation and Ecosystem Development has been named board chair of AUTM, a global nonprofit organization whose members support the commercialization of academic research.

Maas has more than 16 years of experience in technology licensing and commercialization.

The Louisiana Association of Business and Industry has announced its 2024 Officers and Board of Directors along with members of the 2024 LABI Emerging Leaders Council.

Jason DeQuirco-owner of Advantous, will serve as LABI Chairman for 2024. He replaces Jude Melvillepresident and CEO of b1Bank, who becomes immediate past chairman. Tom Coxpresident of Golfballs.com, will serve as vice chairman of the board. Scott Ballardfounder of Ballard Brands, will become secretary while Scott Poolepresident and chief operating officer of MARTCO, will serve as treasurer.

Other appointments include:

Laura Lylespresident of the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce, will serve as president of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Directors Association.

Reldon Owensdirector of external affairs at Louisiana Associated General Contractors, will serve as the trade association representative.

John Overtonowner and CFO of Turn Key Solutions, will serve as the small business representative.

Melanie Cloatretreasurer and credit manager at Placid Refining Company, will serve as chairman of the Emerging Leaders Council.

Eight members of LABI joined the Board of Directors: Mark Kent Andersonmiddle south extrusion; Roger BoyettRecon Engineering; Peyton FarrForth Insurance; Pamela GrangerMcBade Engineers and Consultants; Calvin HartNucor Steel Louisiana; Deano OrrWeyerhauser; Anthony Pope, Cox Communication; and Slade SimonsGulf Coast Bank & Trust.
