Robbie Amell and Stephen Amell turn up the heat in theirs Code 8 continuation.

EW can exclusively reveal this sci-fi flick Code 8: Part II will hit Netflix next month on February 28th. Before that happens, get a sneak peek of the film in a new batch of electrifying photos.

“When I first saw it, I got to the end of it and I was like, ‘I want more.’ I want more,” Steven tells EW. “The whole experience feels like we’ve finished, it’s been amazing.”

“We were able to make the first film thanks to the passion of the 30,000 fans who supported us – we wouldn’t be here without them,” says Robbie. “To have the opportunity to bring them into the next part of Connor and Garrett’s story, but without asking for anything in return, is just amazing.”

After the superpowered cousins first starred together in the CW’s Arrowverse as DC Comics characters, they went on to bring their sci-fi passion project to life in a 2016 proof-of-concept short. Their subsequent Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, which was trying to raise $200,000 to make a feature film, raised a whopping $2.4 million. So the Amells created, starred and released Code 8 in 2019

Now, after a stalled sequel with a now-cancelled Quibi series, they’re debuting the official Netflix sequel they produced. “When I see the opening credits, that little shot that comes up that says ‘Producers’ and then says ‘Robbie and Stephen Amell,’ I get goosebumps when that happens,” Stephen says. “It’s really great.”

“Jeff [Chan], our director, is very good at mixing genres, so there’s excitement, but you have these real characters and real relationships that you care about, because if you don’t care about them, then the powers don’t mean anything,” says Robbie. “He’s amazing at creating these worlds and these stories where you’re invested in the people. And then we get an amazing visual effects team, we get some great action scenes, and we get the fun factor because at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.”

Code 8 Part II picks up after the events of the first film, which introduced a cruel world where 4 percent of the population is born with supernatural abilities. Instead of being loved as superheroes, these people in power face discrimination and live in poverty, often resorting to crime.

Connor Reed (Robbie), a powerful young man, was drawn into the lucrative underworld by Garrett (Steven), who helped Connor sharpen his powers to carry out a series of crimes on behalf of a drug lord, while a militarized police team hunted them down .

The sequel, EW has learned, is a completely different story than what the Quibi spinoff would be. We now find Connor working as a janitor while trying to distance himself from Garrett. But when a 14-year-old girl named Pav (Sirena Gulamhaus) is targeted by corrupt cops after an investigation into her brother’s wrongful death, Connor is forced to reunite with Garrett, the man who destroyed his life, to help the young girl .
