Documentary about Servando and Florentino

A Servando y Florentino documentary is forthcoming, capturing the triumphant return of the Venezuelan duo after a 10-year hiatus from touring. Called “El Documental,” the film follows the Primera brothers during their “En Tu Ciudad World Tour,” which traveled through 55 cities on three different continents and included 45 sold-out concerts. “We wanted our fans to be a part of every moment, to feel what we feel when we come back on stage,” said Servando and Florentino, known for hits like “Una Fan Enamorada” and “Una Canción Que Te Enamore,” in press statement. “This documentary is a love letter to everyone who has supported us unconditionally over the years.” “El Documental” will premiere its first of six episodes on April 21 via www.losprimera.com.

Gilberto Santa Rosa, Honors from Berkeley College

Berklee College of Music revealed this week that artists Ledisi, Q-Tip and Gilberto Santa Rosa will receive honorary doctorates in music at a ceremony in May. Recognized for their contributions to the worlds of music and philanthropy, the artists will be celebrated with a reception and concert at Agganis Arena, where more than 200 student vocalists, instrumentalists, dancers, arrangers and song producers will perform a musical tribute to the work of each honoree. “I am very honored and excited,” expressed the Puerto Rican artist known as The sauce knight on Instagram. “Thank you for this award! Thanks everyone for the shows of support and love!!!” Past College Latin recipients include Tito Puente, Gloria Estefan, Rita Moreno and Juan Luis Guerra.

Gloria Estefan collaborates with her son

This week, Gloria Trevi surprised fans with her first collaborative effort with her own son, Angel Gabriel. The Mexican diva and her son deliver a modern, upbeat version of Daniela Romo’s 1983 “Celos,” a song written by Jose Luis Perales about jealousy. “When Angel and I sang ‘Celos’ for the first time, he was a little kid. I used to joke and tell him that I would sing this song to him at his wedding,” Trevi said in a press statement. “After we recorded the song, I made the same comment and there wasn’t much of a reaction from him. Let’s see who wants me as a mother-in-law. The mother-son duo first premiered their collaboration on national television on Univision’s “Juego de Voces,” where Trevi was a guest artist and the show’s godfather.
