Visit Helena announces $22,500 in grants

Visit Helena announced the approval of $22,500 in grant funding to support events and programs to boost the local visitor economy.

Aimed at fostering the spirit of Helena and its small business community, the grant program highlights the critical role of the visitor economy in maintaining Helena’s health and vitality.

This year’s grant recipients reflect Helena’s eclectic and spirited nature:

Montana Learning Center – Beyond the Big Sky: An adventure that invites stargazers to explore the wonders of the night sky along Canyon Ferry Lake.

Montana History Foundation – Historical Tours: A fascinating journey through Helena’s rich past, revealing stories that shaped the West and Helena’s future.

pointt S Tires and Cars – Septemberfest Soapbox Derby: The highly anticipated fourth annual event to celebrate the community.

Funding is made possible through the Tourism Business Improvement District’s Lodging Assessment Initiative; where a $2 fee for each hotel room night goes directly to funding programs and events that breathe life into the community.

“The Tourism Business Improvement District is proud to facilitate this cycle of growth and excitement for Helena,” said Andrea Opitz, executive director of Visit Helena, in a news release.

CWG Architecture welcomes Moses

His credentials include AIA, LEED AP, and NCARB, and he is a licensed architect in Montana and Wyoming. Architecture has been part of his life for more than 30 years.

Moses prioritizes health and well-being by designing biophilic spaces. Use of natural materials such as timber finishes, local stone and green living walls, as well as an abundance of glass and glazing.

He strives to create spaces drenched in natural light with expansive views of the natural landscape.

In his free time, Moses can be found volunteering, horseback riding, and enjoying the outdoors.

Great West Engineering announces new hire

Jordan Coddington has joined Great West Engineering as part of the Helena-based transportation group.

Coddington is a 2022 graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. She has two years of experience as a road design engineer in a previous engineering firm.

She recently moved to Helena from Springfield, Missouri and enjoys photography, hiking, CrossFit and cooking in her spare time.

TDS says there are 100 workers in the area

TDS Telecommunications LLC continues to grow its workforce in Montana and now has 100 associates and is looking to hire more full-time workers, company officials said.

The company has made a capital investment in the state of nearly $160 million as it builds all-fiber high-speed Internet networks in Helena, Billings, Butte, Great Falls and Missoula. The networks feature internet speeds of up to 8 Gig as well as TV and phone packages.

As work continues and customers are connected to the service, jobs are being added to the company’s website at tdstelecom.com/careers, including numerous construction positions. TDS offers competitive pay and benefits, sign-on bonuses for some positions, and is listed on several Best Employers lists.
