Lindsay Lohan is back for Netflix’s hit rom-com Irish desirewhich is currently ranked #1 on the streamer’s US movie charts. As you watch, you might be wondering where Irish desire is filmed and if you can visit the breathtaking castles, cliffs, lakes and other places in real life.

Irish desire follows a shy book editor named Maddie Kelly (Lohan) who falls in love with the writer she works for, the handsome and charismatic Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos). When Kennedy gets engaged to his best friend, Maddie must put her feelings aside and travel to Ireland for their wedding. Days before they are to be married, Maddie makes a magical wish for true love and finds herself in an alternate universe where she is the one who married Paul.

Lohan has starred in numerous rom-coms before, including Netflix Fall for Christmas in 2002 and 2006 Just luck. The actress told Netflix that the emphasis on physical comedy attracted her to the role. “Maddie’s [one of the only] characters I’ve played [who’s] a woman making her own way in the world,” she explained to Tudum. “We built her in a way where she’s a little more insecure at the beginning, and then she grows throughout the movie, and at the end she really comes into her own.”

Where were you Irish desire Captured?

Irish desire it was largely filmed in Wicklow, located on the east coast of Ireland. Lohan said Tum that she is excited to film in Ireland and explore this side of her heritage. “Ireland is so beautiful,” she said. “I have never been, [but] my grandfather is from there. We stayed in this little town called Dalkey. The people are so nice and the Guinness pies were amazing.”

Ayesha Curry, who portrays Maddie’s loyal best friend Heather, told the streamer that Ireland has “the most epic sights, views and history.” She continued: “There’s so much history there, and to explore that a little between shooting days was really cool.”

Killruddery House and Gardens

Killruddery House in County Wicklow, Ireland, was used as the Kennedy family estate. The 800-acre estate dates back to the 1600s and has been inhabited and owned by the Brabazonis for three generations. The house is currently a working farm producing free range meat, fruit and vegetables for Killruddery’s own kitchen and Farm Shop. There are also garden and house tours during the open season, according to its website.

Low Tay

in Irish desire, Lough Tay is where Lohan’s character makes a wish on the magic wishing chair. In real life, the picturesque lake is located on private property in the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland. The lake is owned by the Guinness family, which means there is limited public access.

Powerscourt Estate

In addition to Killruddery House, the Kennedy mansion scenes were also filmed at Powerscourt Estate. According to the estate’s website, Powerscourt began as a 13th-century castle more than 800 years ago. Eventually, 1st Viscount Powerscourt transformed it into the style of his grand Palladian mansion between 1730 and 1741. Unfortunately, you can’t enter the mansion, but you can visit the gardens, gift shop and cafe.

The Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher are a must experience for tourists visiting Ireland. Based on the west coast of Ireland, the cliffs are where Maddie and James brainstorm possible locations for a wedding photo shoot. The picturesque cliffs have also been featured in films such as Harry Potter, The Princess Bride, Leap Yearand more.

Westport, County Mayo

Netflix chose the charming seaside town of Westport as the featured village Irish desire. With stone bridges and a tree-lined avenue along the Carrowbeg River, the picturesque village is perfect for a rom-com. The wedding dress scene, filmed earlier in the film, was located at Kelly’s Tweeds & Knitwear store, while the town square was used for the second date between Maddie and James.
